Over 400 Alabama Municipal Elections Set for August 26

Candidate Qualifying Has Ended –

Now It’s Time to Learn About Who’s Running

Montgomery, AL – Over 400 municipalities across Alabama will hold municipal elections on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. With candidate qualifying now officially closed, voters are encouraged to begin learning about the individuals seeking local office.

“This is the time to get informed,” said Kim Bailey, President of the League of Women Voters of Alabama. “Local elections have a direct impact on your daily life—your roads, schools, public safety, and more. Every vote really counts.”

Voters can find a list of qualified candidates by visiting their municipality’s official website. Many localities will also have candidate forums and town halls in the coming weeks, providing residents with valuable opportunities to hear directly from those running for office.

The League urges all eligible voters to:

  • Check their registration status at https://myinfo.alabamavotes.gov

  • Review their city’s candidate list and election details

  • Attend or watch candidate forums

  • Make a plan to vote on or before Election Day
