Lobby Corps Goals
Increase Participation and Visibility
Strengthen engagement of LWV members and the public on state issues by fostering greater awareness and involvement.
Maximize Impact with Timely Action
Balance the urgency of advocacy efforts with thoughtful consideration of the resources required to effectively support or oppose policies and legislation.
Develop Effective Calls to Action
Create and distribute calls to action at the request of the LWVAL president, ensuring that messages are clear, concise, and actionable.
Expand Communication Channels
Reach members and supporters through multiple tools and platforms to maximize engagement and response rates.
Provide Resources for Advocacy
Supply position background information and talking points to members and Local Leagues, empowering them to speak confidently and consistently.
Build Advocacy Capacity
Lay the groundwork for more informed and impactful advocacy by increasing opportunities for Local Leagues and individual members to participate in the process.

Lobby Corps Volunteers

Learn the Legislative Process. Understand and internalize the fundamentals of the legislative process and effective grassroots lobbying techniques.

Build Issue Expertise. Develop knowledge and expertise on critical issues where the League is advocating.

Engage directly with legislators. Be willing to testify at committee hearings and participate in meetings with state legislators.

Participate in lobby days. Attend and engage in lobby days at the Alabama State House to amplify the League's voice.

Uphold Nonpartisanship. Strictly adhere to the League's Non-Partisan Policy in all advocacy efforts.

Respect Representation Guidelines. Do not speak on behalf of the League of Women Voters of Alabama unless explicitly authorized under LWVAL policies or by the LWVAL president.

Collaborate with Allies. Work with LWVAL allies and partners on issues as assigned, fostering stronger coalitions and broader impact.
