Using the Alabama Channel

for Advocacy and Civic Engagement

Virtual Public Program Presented by the
League of Women Voters of Alabama Education Fund

Offered Free and to the Public via Zoom

Ever wonder what really happens in Alabama’s legislative meetings?

Ever wonder what your representative actually does while they are representing you???   What happens in those sessions and committee meetings?

This is an election year and we ALL need to be thinking about these things and the issuse that are important to us!  And happily, the League furnishes Alabamians a way to do this from the comfort of their own home and at a time convenient to them!

Join Tara Bailey, Director of The Alabama Channel, for a live virtual training on January 8 at 6:30 PM that shows you how to turn public meetings into powerful tools for advocacy and civic engagement.

In this 45–60 minute session, you’ll learn:

  • Why searchable video is essential for transparency and accountability

  • What legislative and state agency meetings The Alabama Channel covers

  • How to search transcripts, track bills, and find key moments fast

  • Ways advocates, community groups, journalists, and everyday citizens use clips to educate, organize, and hold officials accountable

Whether you’re following a specific issue, preparing testimony, supporting a campaign, or just want to better understand how decisions get made, this training will give you practical, hands-on skills you can use right away.
